The New Bridge, the most emblematic monument of the city of Ronda, was built between 1759 and 1793 and connects the historical and modern areas of the city by saving the Tajo de Ronda a gorge over 100 meters deep dug by the river Guadalevín .
The bridge is of stone ashlar and has a central arch of half point supported by other smaller. At the top are the units of the bridge that once was used as a prison, and both sides of these units opened two other arcs, which serve to sustain the structure that supports the street.
Its construction was initiated in 1759 to replace another bridge that had collapsed in 1740, participated in its realization various teachers, but the highlight was Jose Martin Aldehuela who finished the work.
