In the walls of Avila, among the rubble of stone and mortar we can find plenty of reused Roman materials: gray granite blocks, Cupas and cists.
In the early days of the Roman Avila, the city went from Vettones (Obile) to Rome (Abela). It was a military colony, surrounded by a wall much lower than today. Many of the materials that were part of this Roman city are now integrated into the wall.
